Let’s assume that, as a video editor, your daily income is ₹1,000, and you want to increase it to ₹3,000–₹5,000 by any means possible. Now, how can you do that?
Well, there are many ways to do it. Today, I will tell you about all of them.
Before starting the article, let me tell you that I am assuming you are either a beginner editor or an average editor like me. Not an expert. As a result, you have Indian clients with 500–1,000 followers, not popular creators or foreign clients.

Start With Your Current Situation
First of all, let’s assume you have 2–3 clients for whom you edit short-form videos, and you get ₹1,000 per video.
The Problem With Spending 4–5 Hours on One Video
The problem is that it takes you 4–5 hours to edit one video, and the rest of your time goes into listening to client feedback and making the corrections.
That means, at most, you can make only one video in a day.
So, even if we assume that you work all 30 days of the month, your income will not be more than ₹30,000.
And in 2026, that is not enough at all. You cannot run your household comfortably, nor can you buy better devices with your editing income.
You need to find a better idea.
How Can You Increase Your Video Editing Income?
Now, you need to think of some better ideas to increase your income.
So, what can you do?
1. Spend Less Time on Storyboarding
The first thing is, I believe that you spend more time thinking about how a video should be edited than actually editing the video.
Why is that? Think about it.
If it takes you 6 hours to edit a video for the first time, then the second time, if you edit the same video in the same style, it won’t take you more than 2 hours.
Do Your Storyboarding Before You Start Editing
So, the point is, if storyboarding takes a lot of time, do this process when you are lying on your bed, traveling, or simply copy-paste an idea from Pinterest, Instagram, or YouTube.
What’s the point of spending so much time thinking on your own when, at the end of the day, the client may not even be happy and you’ll only get ₹1,000?
2. Try to Work With the Same Clients
Instead of constantly editing for new clients, try to work for the same client so that their editing style remains the same.
Reuse Your Effects and Transitions
This way, you can reuse the effects and transitions you created for them in Premiere Pro.
You can simply copy and paste them from your previous project and use them again and again.
Or you can save them as presets and reuse them repeatedly, which will save you a lot of time.
How Working Faster Can Increase Your Income
Now, what will happen because of this?
The video that used to take you 6 hours to edit will now take you only 2 hours.
And even if you work for 7–8 hours a day, you can easily edit 3 videos a day.
Then your income will also become ₹3,000 per day.
Your Potential Monthly Income
Now, if you work 30 days a month, your income will be ₹90,000.
And if you work 20 days a month, your income will be ₹60,000.
How Much Can an Average Video Editor Earn Per Video?
Last but not least, in 2026 and in the coming years, for video editing, especially short-form video editing, an average editor who edits using software like Premiere Pro or DaVinci can get a minimum of ₹1,000 per video.
So, your minimum income can be around this amount.
The maximum depends on your skills and your behavior.
